Just a quick note to say that there will be no more blog posts at this address, but I will be writing news posts on my updated website on the news & events page.

Time to blow my own trumpet!
I've had several of my designs feature in The Knitter magazine over the last few years, and this month's issue (no 73) features another one - Sea Holly. It's actually quite a simple lace batwing top using a really nice Rowan viscose/cotton/linen yarn Panama. The Knitter also features an interview with me along with some images of past designs.
What I'm most chuffed about though is the banner on the front cover - see below.

I've just returned from heaven! Or something very near it anyway - the French Pyrenees. My friends Andrea and Paul live in the mountains near the little village of Massat - in the Ariege region of France - and have been there for 5 years. The setting of their home is beautiful, on the side of a mountain overlooking a valley, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. They've renovated an old French farmhouse and  live in one half while the other half is rented out as a gite (check out their website for tapovan-massat.) It really is the most beautiful setting  -especially on a sunny May day!

I realise that my website is in urgent need of updating - and this will be happening soon!
Meanwhile......
last weekend I was showing at the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show - which was great. My busiest show yet! Once again I met lots of lovely knitters and had several really interesting chats.
As my customers at these shows will know, I've been selling kits for some of the beaded items from my book using a rayon yarn. The supplier I was using has now stopped selling it, but I have found an undyed version which I'm hoping to have dyed in my colour palette really soon. Meanwhile I've found a similar rayon yarn in pretty colours and have designed a couple of new scarves using this. At the recent show I was able to sell 50g skeins of this yarn, as well as using it in the kits. Until I'm able to sell these directly from my website, I have them for sale in my Etsy shop.
I also added a couple of new single patterns for sale - previously published in magazines. All my patterns are available to buy from Ravelry.
So here are some images from my stand at the show..........
my lovely little stand - a rare quiet moment!

Spitalfields market

A quick post to say that I'm going to have a stand a next Saturday's Designer/Maker market at Spitalfields market.
I will be selling a variety of items - the samples mentioned in the previous post, some new pieces made specifically for the market (photos to follow when they're finished!) and also A Handknit Romance and some kits - just in case there are any knitters around.
The market is open from 11a.m. and there will be lots of other lovely stalls there (I thought this flyer was going to be bigger! For more info best to go to their website )

Some more news......... now that I have the Etsy shop I've decided to have a clearout of my knit-related stuff! I'm starting with some of the samples that I have made for magazines. I've been hanging onto some of them for a while, as they represent a lot of hard work - but now I think they'd be better off being worn by someone and hopefully giving them pleasure.
I'm going to be adding one sample a day - these are the 2 that are on Etsy so far -
Snowflurry from The Knitter magazine 2012
I was particularly proud of this design - it took ages to work out how to get the snowflake pattern to 'fade' towards the shoulder. It is knitted using Rowan 4 ply pure wool and Fine Tweed and can be found here on Etsy

Garland from The Knitter magazine

The second jumper is a rather more glamorous affair - with a plunging back neckline and some pretty beaded embroidery.
This can be found here on Etsy I'm not mad about the styling - I think they've put shoulder pads in! - as I think it could look really nice worn in a more 'casual' way. But at least the photos are on a model, and show the shape.

Finally - a sneak preview of some of the other samples that I'll be putting on this week................. (P.S. I don't choose the colours!)

Okay, so I haven't written a post for a while, and a little gremlin (French!) separated my blog from my website - I didn't realise the blog was still online!
A friend ( Kate Jones fabulous, luxury knitwear pieces) encouraged me to start the blog again. So here it is!
I have news too - I've finally managed to open an Etsy shop, JennieAtkinsonKnits, where I can sell the knitting kits that have been so popular at the shows.
